Inspired by Nighthawks

The Edward Hopper's Nighthawks painting  is so famous that the Simpson, Lego and many others have done their parodic version of it, i find these versions super fun.

Edward Hopper's masterpieces

I just saw Edward Hopper's exhibition at the Grand Palais. Here are a few selections of his beautiful work.
He was a prominent American realist painter and printmaker. While he was most popularly known for his oil paintings, he was equally proficient as a watercolorist and printmaker in etching. Both in his urban and rural scenes, his spare and finely calculated renderings reflected his personal vision of modern American life.

Here is Nighthawks, one of his most famous paintings, my all time favorite.

The effective use of light and shadow to create mood is also central to Hopper’s methods. Bright sunlight (as an emblem of insight or revelation), and the shadows it casts, also play symbolically powerful roles in Hopper paintings such as Early Sunday Morning (1930), Summertime (1943), Seven A.M. (1948), and Sun in an Empty Room (1963). His use of light and shadow effects have been compared to the cinematography of film noir.

Nicolas Ghesquière leaving Balenciaga... what a sad news

After his stunning printemps été 2013 collection, Nicolas Ghesquière announced the end of his collaboration with Balenciaga, i was stunned when i read the article a few weeks ago. I wonder who will replace this fashion genius and how this new comer will change the brand.
In the meanwhile, here are a few pics of his marvelous spring summer 2013 collection. I love that white top and the blue dress. Nicolas, you are simply the best.

Etoile Isabel Marant Fita dress

Isabel Marant strikes again. :-) This dress is truly nice with the light fabric & fine broderies, quite sexy with its V neck when unbuttoned . There are three colors, black, white and bronze. I finally picked the white one.

Karen Walker, a designer with great patterns

I just discovered this great designer thanks to a dear friend. I love the dresses, the patterns, the originality of the prints, the combination of colors. My favorite dress is the yellow white and black pattern, simply beautiful and graphic.
